Why Ghosting Your Recruiter Could Be Hurting Your Job Search

Let’s say a recruiter calls you with a job opportunity. It sounds good at first, but then you realize the shift won’t work. The pay isn’t what you need. You accepted another job. Or maybe you just changed your mind.

That’s okay.

Seriously. You can tell us no.

What doesn’t help? Disappearing.

At CPAY Staffing & Recruiting, we don’t expect every opportunity we send you to be the perfect fit. But the more you communicate with us, the better chance we have of actually finding the job that is.

Tell Us What You Actually Think

A good recruiter isn’t trying to shove you into the first open position they have.

If we send you a warehouse job and you don’t like the hours, tell us. If the commute is too far, tell us. If you interview somewhere and immediately know it isn’t for you, tell us that too.

That feedback helps us understand what you’re actually looking for.

You aren’t going to hurt our feelings.

We’d much rather hear, “This one isn’t for me,” than get completely ghosted and have no idea why.

Can’t Make an Interview? Let Us Know.

Life happens.

If you can’t make an interview, need to reschedule, accepted another position, or decided you’re no longer interested, a quick call or text goes a long way.

Sometimes we can reschedule. Sometimes we have another job that might fit you better. And sometimes we simply say, “Thanks for letting us know!”

But we can’t help with something we don’t know about.

Your Reputation Matters Too

Recruiting is a relationship business, especially in the St. Charles and St. Louis job market.

Changing your mind about a job doesn’t make you look bad. Communicating professionally actually builds trust with your recruiter.

Repeatedly ghosting recruiters, skipping interviews without saying anything, or accepting jobs and never showing up is different. Over time, that can make it harder for a recruiter to confidently recommend you for another opportunity.

You never know when the recruiter you’re talking to today might have the perfect opportunity for you six months from now.

Don’t burn a bridge you may want to cross later.

We’re Trying to Find Your Fit Too

At CPAY, we want to know what you liked, what you didn’t like, what pay you need, what shift works, how far you’re willing to drive, and what kind of work you actually want to do.

The more honest you are, the better advocate we can be for you.

So if you’re searching for manufacturing jobs, warehouse jobs, skilled trades opportunities, production positions, or administrative jobs in St. Charles or the St. Louis area, talk to us.

You don’t have to say yes to every opportunity.

Just don’t disappear on us.

That communication might be exactly what helps us find your Right Person. Right Job. Right Time. match.
